The Whale and Simon

from Polpo Santo by Year 5000

lyrics

Sometimes, sometimes, you know,
I feel like a burden on this world
So I take myself to the beach.
Wandering in to the crashing waves
an excited young man comes splashing up to me.
Wild joy in his eye, I though that he might cry.
He said, "I'd like to call you The Whale."
I said, "That's fine."
He said, "My name's Simon."

My new friend Simon.

He said he'd never met a cetacean before.
I said, "That's very interesting. I myself am a Capricorn. Or is it Sagittarius? I can never remember -- whichever one's in December."
He said he'd been so confused for such a long long time.
Felt like he was living a useless life.
Then he looked me right in the eye and I thought he might cry.

My friend Simon.

Oh we swam and we swam as the storm clouds filled the sky.
We laughed and we laughed until we almost cried. The sea seemed to boil all around us.
He said, "I'm so happy to have met you."
I said, "Me too. Me too.

My friend Simon.
